Karl is a retiring judge from Missouri who is starting Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary Pastoral Studies Institute in the fall of 2019 (second career seminary training).

“For the past few weeks, I have served as an in-school chaplain intern at Mount Lebanon Lutheran School at 60th and Hampton, and at a charter school on the west side of Milwaukee .  I have presented daily devotions to all-school assemblies each morning, led staff devotions for the teachers and leaders in the schools, spent time one-on-one with scholars who were struggling with behaviors or with their assignments, assisted teachers in presenting their Word of God lessons in their classrooms, and just about anything else you can think of that might be helpful to teachers in a busy school.  Some of the students come from strong church backgrounds, but for many of them, this has been their first real opportunity to hear about who Jesus is and what he has done to save us.

“One of the greatest blessings of this summer is that we have been able to distribute over 80 Bibles to elementary and middle school students who asked for them at the charter school, a school where the scholars do not get to hear about Jesus during the regular school year–and it all started with one second grade girl named Jordyn, who shared with me that she really wanted a Bible of her own!”
